Criteria & Process

The Community Ventures Capital Fund Inc. (CVCF) is a regionally mandated, community-based fund that invests in a wide range of opportunities in Eastern Ontario.

  • We currently service the regions of Brockville, Fontenac, Leeds & Grenville, Lanark, Prescott & Russell, Cornwall, Renfrew, and Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry. We invest in businesses that are located in these regions or which undertake or will undertake an active component of their business in these regions.

  • If your organization is currently doing business within one of our service areas, or you have identified a particular region in which you will be doing business, contact the appropriate CFDC Partner for that region. They will review your needs, explain their services, and examine how they can facilitate your regional business. In addition, they will refer your opportunity to our office for consideration.

  • If you are not currently conducting business within our region, CONTACT US directly. CVCF is interested in investing in a variety of traditional economy sectors as well as emerging and new economy industries. We provide many different forms of debt and equity investments.

  • After making the appropriate contacts, and undergoing a preliminary assessment, you may be invited to submit an application to the CVCF. The application must be accompanied by the fee, a detailed business plan and all other relevant documents.

  • Our Investment Committee and staff will then engage in a review of your business opportunity and determine the appropriate investment vehicle.

  • Upon approval by our Investment Committee, viable investments are then submitted for due diligence, and draft terms are prepared (which requires an additional fee) and presented. Depending on the type of investment and other factors, this process can take up to a number of months to complete.

  • On completion of the due diligence process, our Investment Committee will review opportunities and make a final decision.

  • If a decision is made to pursue the investment, the process is then moved to legal council for closing and execution. Legal fees and disbursements are the client’s responsibility.

Throughout the process, our office and the regional CFDC work with you to ensure a smooth and timely process.
