Our Children’s Services team helps to facilitate Foster Care referrals that are provided to us by the Ministry of Child and Family Development (MCFD) in British Columbia. Once we receive a referral, we work hard to find appropriate care for the child.
Our program is for care providers who have the skills and interest to care for children and youth who are supported by a multi-disciplinary team. These children and youth require ongoing extra educational, medical, health, social, or environmental support.
Every child is different and their support depends on their individual strengths and needs.
Some things to know about fostering children and teens with support needs:
- They often require help with everyday activities like hygiene or feeding themselves
- Their skills may develop at a different rate than others
- More time and energy will be spent working with professionals who provide specialized services
- There may be some behavioral challenges
