Opportunities in Children’s Respite

If you have experience working with children with developmental disabilities and have space in your home & heart, we would love to speak with you. Becoming a Children’s Respite Caregiver enables you to give back to your community and support families who have a child with a disability.

Respite is a family-to-family program where the child typically goes into the home of the caregiver to provide the family with a break from continuous care of their child. Respite visits generally happen over a weekend or on an overnight basis. However, a more flexible schedule can be designed to meet the needs of the family.

Over the years, we have developed longstanding relationships with caregivers who have found being a respite caregiver extremely rewarding and enriching. By becoming a respite caregiver, you’re providing families with much needed rest and offering a new experience for the child you’re providing respite care for as well as your own family.

In exchange for your time and your efforts as a Children’s Respite Caregiver, you will be provided with a small monetary compensation set by the government. Most of all, you will be making an impact in the life a child and supporting local families who are in need. Respite provides short-term breaks for parents so that they can relieve their stress and  renew their energy. Respite care provides a break from caregiving duties, while their children receive the care they require in a safe and  caring environment. We match children with caregivers based on preferences, skill set and family dynamics. Final matches are done only after both the child’s family and the respite caregiver agree that they want to spend time together.
