October is Community Inclusion Month

October is Community Inclusion Month and every year all of us at Community Ventures Society (CVS) celebrate the contributions that people with developmental disabilities make in the Tri-Cities.

After having served the Tri-Cities for over 40 years now, we are proud of how we have grown as a society in making our communities more inclusive. At CVS, we have a strong belief that community inclusion is about creating open doors for all in education, in workplaces or in our recreational facilities.

The theme for Community Inclusion Month this year is The Future is Accessible and CVS intends to advocate and contribute to a world that provides greater inclusion and accessibility for everyone.

All of our programs – adult day programs, Children\’s Services and employment programs – help to build bridges betweens the individuals we serve and the community.

Throughout October, there will be a range of communications we\’ll be sending out about inclusion so we hope you have the time to read and share these articles. To kickoff Community Inclusion Month, CVS and its social enterprises were recently featured in the Tri-City News. To read the article, click here. Please share across your networks. In the weeks ahead, the Tri-City News will be running other ads and editorial about CVS so please keep an eye out for these as well.

As well, a number of events will be hosted throughout the Lower Mainland that we\’ll be sharing. We hope everyone across our community can make it out to an event or two in honour of inclusion.

Happy Community Inclusion Month!
